Home Sleep Test
An alternative to Laboratory Sleep Testing is a Home Sleep
Test (HST). This type of test also needs a physician’s
order but it can be done in the patient’s home instead
of the sleep lab. Since it can only be used to diagnose obstructive
sleep apnea, fewer sensors are required for the study. The
patient is instructed by our staff how to apply these sensors
for a successful recording that will automatically start at
a preselected time. The recording device is then returned
to SMC the next day where the study is downloaded, analyzed,
and interpreted similar to a laboratory sleep test.
